There are four strands to the Literature Programme in 2018. These are: National (UK-wide); Scottish Emerging Writer; International Writer; Translation.
The summer residencies are at least four weeks in duration (usually), and are funded — which means writers are paid to come. Writers will be alongside artists in other art forms — visual arts, crafts, performing arts and more — in an interdisciplinary programme reaching out to all career stages and nationalities.
It’s the second year of using our new Artist Centre which makes the putting on of events and bringing together the artists much easier. I am looking forward so much to meeting our writers this summer.
Writers who joined us this year include: Erica Fatland (Norway, International Writer, Maclehose Fellow); John Bird, (UK) Founder of the Big Issue; Annalena McAfee, (UK) former editor of the Guardian Review and author of Hame; Jennie Erdal, (Scotland) author of acclaimed memoir Ghosting; Jen Hadfield, (Scotland) poet, ceramacist and winner of the TS Eliot Prize; Emily Won (Korea), Publishing Scotland-Cove Park Translation Fellow.
